I counted five daisies in my winter garden yesterday. The heavily pruned gorse by the den is flowering its head off, so to speak.

The first signs of daffodils (not quite so far on as they were at this stage last year) and of crocuses have appeared. The crocus leaves surprised me. Perhaps I simply haven’t noticed them at this time of year before.

Meanwhile, among the mess of dead iris leaves, Lesser Celandine leaves look sprightly. The yellow string beyond the flag patch marks a patch where I’m encouraging wild angelica.
