First flowering of Lady’s Smock, which is also known as Cuckoo Flower. Latin name is Cardamine pratensis. Wildflower no.31 for 2015

I’ve decided to include non-flowering plants such as ferns and bryophytes in my 2015 garden plant species list so Scaly Male Fern, Hart’s-tongue Fern and Maidenhair Spleenwort were numbers 28, 29 and 30. The Common Ash tree was number 27.

The ash trees here are too tall for me to get a close-up shot of the flowers but in this long shot you can see the knobbliness that they cause on the branches before the leaf buds open
